Bari - Brindisi - Lecce - Taranto - Brindisi
Total distance covered: 334 km.
Scenery: Adriatic coast, plains, olive groves, and arid Mediterranean landscapes.
After breakfast, you’ll have time to explore the old town of Bari, a port city with roots that stretch back to pre-Roman times. Its narrow streets, churches, and vibrant atmosphere make it a unique and special place.
10:00 a.m. – Departure from Bari. We’ll continue our journey along the Adriatic Sea coast.
11:30 a.m. - Brindisi. Arrival in this walled port city, where you’ll have time to explore. Take a leisurely stroll by the sea, admire the impressive Roman column, and wander through the charming old quarter.
01:00 p.m. – Departure from Brindisi.
01:45 p.m. - Lecce. Arrival in this charming city, renowned for its stunning baroque architecture, which has earned the nickname "Florence of the South." The historic center is filled with beautifully ornate baroque buildings and churches. You’ll have time for a walk and lunch.
04:00 p.m. – Departure from Lecce. We’ll continue through the Mediterranean plains of Italy’s heel.
05:30 p.m. - Taranto. Arrival in this vibrant city, which captures the essence of southern Italy—with its traditions, atmosphere, and a touch of faded charm. Here, you’ll see the impressive Castello Aragonese, the old quarter, and the cathedral.
07:00 p.m. – Departure from Taranto.
08:00 p.m. - Brindisi. Return to our hotel.
Brindisi - Alberobello - Matera - Naples
Total distance covered: 401 km.
Scenery: Today, we’ll explore two spectacular and authentic towns.
Note: Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, especially for Matera.
09:00 a.m. – Departure from Brindisi.
10:15 a.m. - Alberobello. Enjoy time to explore this charming town, famous for its unique conical-shaped houses known as trulli. These distinctive structures, with their stone-stacked roofs, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a remarkable example of Italian rural architecture.
11:15 a.m. – Departure from Alberobello. We’ll head into the Basilicata region.
01:00 p.m. - Matera. Arrival in this breathtaking city, renowned for its ancient historic center and the Sassi di Matera, a network of ancient dwellings and structures carved into the rock, dating back thousands of years. Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited human settlements in the world. You’ll have time to explore and enjoy lunch.
03:30 p.m. – Departure from Matera. We’ll continue through Basilicata and Campania, taking in the beautiful mountain landscapes.
07:00 p.m. - Naples. Arrival in the evening. We recommend taking a stroll through this impressive city.
Naples - Capri - Sorrento - Salerno
Total distance covered: 65 km, plus boat trip.
Scenery: Stunning landscapes in the Bay of Naples and Sorrento.
Notes: Part of this trip will be by boat, so we recommend bringing warm clothes. Don’t forget your camera in case you want to photograph the breathtaking views. Due to weather conditions, ships connecting Naples with Capri or Capri with Sorrento may not operate. In such cases, the route will be modified to arrive at Sorrento by highway and visit Amalfi instead of Capri.
09:30 a.m. - Departure from Naples by ferry. The boat trip will last approximately one hour, offering picturesque views.
10:40 a.m. - Capri. Free time for lunch on the island. Optionally, you can take a boat to visit Grotta Bianca and the faraglioni or take the funicular to go up to Capri city.
03:15 p.m. - We’ll take a ferry (schedules may vary) to Sorrento, enjoying beautiful scenery along the way.
04:00 p.m. - Sorrento. We’ll explore this charming and lively town perched on a cliff, with its port located in the lower area.
06:00 p.m. - Departure from Sorrento.
07:45 p.m. - Salerno. Arrival and accommodation. Would you like to take a stroll through this vibrant southern Italian city?
Note: During the winter months, the schedules will be modified (departing earlier from Naples) to make the most of the daylight.
Salerno - Paola - Messina - Taormina
Total distance covered by road: 475 km.
Scenery: Mountains, sea views, and picturesque villages along the way.
Note: We recommend bringing warm clothing to fully enjoy the ferry crossing between the Italian Peninsula and Sicily.
07:30 a.m. – Departure from Salerno. We’ll travel south through Italy, enjoying the scenic mountain landscapes and charming small villages. As we continue, we’ll reconnect with the beautiful shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
11:30 a.m. - Sanctuary of St. Francis of Paola. You’ll have time to explore the enchanting sanctuary nestled in its beautiful surroundings—be sure to venture down into the cave! Afterward, enjoy some time to stroll through the charming old town of Paola and have lunch.
02:00 p.m. - We’ll continue our journey to Villa San Giovanni, where around 04:30 p.m., we’ll board a ferry for a short 20-minute crossing to Sicily.
05:30 p.m. - Arrival in Messina. We’ll take some time to stroll through the city center, our first encounter with the island of Sicily.
06:30 p.m. - Departure from Messina.
07:30 p.m. - Taormina.
Note: Accommodation will be in the Taormina region, though it may sometimes be in Messina.
Taormina - Caltagirone - Villa Romana del Casale - Palermo
Total distance covered: 320 km.
Scenery: Inland Sicily, Mediterranean mountain landscapes.
After breakfast, enjoy a stroll through the enchanting city of Taormina, situated at the foot of Mount Etna. Winston Churchill once described it as “the most beautiful place on earth.” You’ll have time to explore the vibrant old town, where the Greek theater is beautifully set against the breathtaking landscape.
11:00 a.m. – Departure from Taormina as we head toward the island’s interior.
12:45 p.m. – Arrival in Caltagirone, a city designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its rich Baroque heritage. You’ll get to ride a little tourist train (included), where you’ll learn about the city’s rich history and key landmarks. Caltagirone is also the ceramic capital of Sicily, as seen in its numerous shops, workshops, and iconic sites, including the famous 142-step staircase, each step uniquely decorated with colorful tiles.
03:00 p.m. – Departure from Caltagirone.
03:45 p.m. –Villa Romana del Casale (admission included). You’ll have time to explore this World Heritage Site, a remarkable example of a Roman villa, showcasing the grandeur of agrarian life in the Roman Empire. The villa’s 4th-century architecture is exceptionally well-preserved, and its mosaics, which decorate nearly every room, are among the most beautiful in the Roman world.
05:15 p.m. – Departure from Villa Romana del Casale as we continue through the mountainous interior of the island.
07:30 p.m. – Palermo.
Palermo
Total distance covered: 40 km.
09:00 a.m. – Today, we’ll embark on a guided city tour of Palermo with a local expert. Highlights include the cathedral, famous for its blend of architectural styles and royal tombs (admission included), and the Palazzo dei Normanni, a former royal palace with fountains, markets, and gardens. We’ll also visit Monreale to see its cathedral (admission included), a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its breathtaking golden mosaics that adorn the entire interior. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
Note: For smaller groups, the tour may be conducted as part of a regular excursion offered by local companies instead of a private tour.
After breakfast, our journey will come to an end, leaving you with wonderful lasting memories.
Note: Please be aware that the hotel check-out time is usually 10:00 a.m. You can leave your luggage in reception upon check-out, allowing you to explore the city without carrying your bags. You can retrieve your luggage at your convenience later in the day. If you require additional time to use your room, we recommend booking an extra night at the end of your tour.
