We will leave Sofia and make our first stop at the Troyan Monastery, located in a privileged natural environment in the middle of the Balkan mountain range (entrance included). After that, we will continue our journey to VELIKO TARNOVO, the most important medieval city in the country. It was the capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom at its brightest moment, during the XII and XIV centuries. Here we will have time to stroll in its historic city center. Accommodation.

In the morning we will be headed to ARBANASI, a city nearby Veliko Tarnovo. This was a former residence of rich merchants from the XVI to the XVIII centuries. Nowdays is a very well-preserved town-museum where the typical Ottoman architecture fortress-houses stand out. We will have the opportunity to visit the Konstantsaliyata´s House and the Church of the Nativity of Christ (entrance included). Then, we will return to Veliko Tarnovo. Free time to have lunch. In the afternoon we will enjoy a city tour. Accommodation.

After breakfast, we will go to ETARA, an outdoor ethnographic museum where we will appreciate the Bulgarian crafts in real workshops (entrance included). After having lunch in this town, we will be headed to the Shipka Memorial Church at the foot of the homonymous peak that witnessed the battles during the Russo-Turkish War. Then, we will continue to KAZANLAK, capital of the Rose Valley and the Valley of the Thracian Kings. This area is the center of the rose oil industry, an important ingredient of many perfumes and cosmetics. We will have the opportunity to visit the replica of the Thracian tomb , a legacy of that civilization which was declared World Heritage Site in 1979 (entrance fee included). From there we will continue our route towards PLOVDIV, the secret gem of Bulgaria and the second most important city in the country. Accommodation.

In the morning we will take a city tour through the old-quarter of Plovdiv which was built during the XVIII and XIX centuries. Here, we can appreciate the local architectural style of the National Reinassance period. It is a historic center of exceptional architecture and with numerous archaeological remains such as the Roman Theater and the Churches of Saint Constantine and Saint Elena. Leisure time to have lunch and enjoy this beautiful city. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to the capital, SOFIA. Accommodation.

Early in the morning we will explore the capital with our city tour: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral as a symbol of the city; the Church of St. George Rotunda from the IV century; Saint Sofia Church; the Mosque and the Russian church of St. Nicholas are some of the attractions that we will know during our panoramic tour. After some free time to drink a coffee, we will leave the city to visit the RILA MONASTERY which has been declared a World Heritage Site. It has also become a national symbol and guardian of the Bulgarian language and culture. The Monastery will impress us not only for its wonderful architecture and frescoes, but also for the natural surroundings in which it is located. We will be at the heart of the Rila Mountains, surrounded by deep forests in a setting like no other. We will return to Sofia.
