STAVANGER 36ºF - 37ºF
We begin our excursion by taking a ferry (ride included) to Lysefjord, arriving at Tau, and continuing by road to the base. We will start by trekking up to the iconic PREIKESTOLEN or Pulpit, a famous 604 m cliff with a flat summit from which we may enjoy a great panoramic view if we don´t have vertigo. We return to STAVANGER to visit the Cathedral of St. Swithun, Norway´s oldest, which was once Catholic and is now the seat of the Lutheran diocese of the same name, with its brilliant baroque pulpit as its showpiece. STAVANGER 36ºF - 37ºF - ODDA 36ºF - 36ºF - LOFTHUS 10ºF - 18ºF - HANDANGER FJORD - BERGEN 32ºF - 34ºF
After breakfast, we will leave for ODDA, a beautiful setting of forests and cliffs with water as the leading actor. In addition to its glaciers, hiking paths, and the mythological Troll´s tongue, which has a strange beauty and is challenging to reach, it is also notable for the location of the filming of the series Ragnarök, which combines Norse god mythology with the present theme of Ragnarök. Next, we will go to the small village of LOFTHUS, where we will have time for lunch before heading to the HANDANGER FIORD, the world´s third-largest and Norway´s second-largest. We will be treated to unrivalled panoramic views in this intriguing location where nature comes alive. Arrival in BERGEN at the end of the day. Overnight stay.
BERGEN 32ºF - 34ºF
Today we will visit BERGEN, Norway´s second-largest city, which preserves its small-town charm with its cottages that appear to cling to the hillsides or tiny cobblestone alleys. We will begin at the Bryggen Hanseatic Quay, a colourful complex of buildings used for trading and exporting fish that was rebuilt following a fire in 1702. Today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a gathering place for tourists and locals. We will visit the Lutheran St. Olaf´s Cathedral, or Bergen Domkirke; the Bergenhus Fortress, which has been beautifully landscaped and offers excellent views of the city and the docks; and the Church of St. Mary, or Mariakirken, Bergen´s oldest preserved building (XII century) is an example of Romanesque architecture. And of course, the Fish Market, or Torget, is one of Norway´s most frequented and well-known locations, where we may sample a variety of fish and crustaceans. We will use the evening to do some shopping in Bryggen´s shops or relax on the terraces in the vicinity. We also include a 350-meter-high funicular trip to Mount Flouyen. From here, we will get a greater perspective of Bergen, including its islands and the six mountains that surround it. It´s a great spot to visit at any time of day to enjoy the best views of the fjord. Accommodation.
BERGEN 32ºF - 34ºF - VOSS 16ºF - 16ºF - SOGNE FJORD - FLAM
We continue to appreciate the pictures of the Norwegian hinterland as we travel through spectacular landscapes: fjords, glaciers, lakes, and woods. We will stop at VOSS, which is known as Norway´s adventure capital. We will take a walk along the lake´s edge and take in the scenery, or relax and have a drink in one of the nearby restaurants. Then we will stop at the stunning TVINDEFOSSEN waterfall, which descends 110 meters and is one of Norway´s most photographed spots. We continue on our journey to the SOGNERFJORD, Norway´s longest and deepest fjord. We will board a ferry from Gudvangend to Flam (ride included) to appreciate this postcard-like countryside. FLAM, a Little village of around 500 people, is home to one of Norway´s most popular attractions: the FLAMSBANA TRAIN, which is considered one of the world´s most beautiful train rides (journey included). The trip takes around 2 hours (round trip) and covers roughly 20 kilometres. Since our target is the station of Myrdal, there are other stops along the way that are not frequented by visitors but rather by valley residents. In the afternoon, we will visit the charming village of AURLAND and climb up to the spectacular Stegastein viewpoint, which stands 30 meters above the fjord and is 650 meters high. Accommodation.
FLAM - BRIKSDAL GLACIER - HELLESYLT - GEIRANGER
We continue our exploration of Norway´s untamed nature and arrive at the BRIKSDAL GLACIER, a must-see, the most famous of Jostedal´s arms and Europe´s largest glacier, stretching over six kilometres. We will continue to HELLESYLT, where we will sail through the stunning Geiranger Fjord (route included), blue and deep, surrounded by mountains and greenery, and designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site with its famous Seven Sisters waterfalls. The Hellesylt Waterfall, also known as Hellesylt Fossen, is one of the most beautiful in the area, and it is encircled by two bridges where you may enjoy and go for a walk. Arrival to the unique town of GEIRANGER. Overnight stay.
GEIRANGER - LILLHAMMER
Today, we will travel the Trollstigen, an astounding engineering feat where we will stop at several locations to take photos. We continue to LILLEHAMMER, which is best known for hosting the 1994 Winter Olympics. We will stop at the sky jumping trampolines to take in the sights of this city recognized by UNESCO as a city of literature and a sustainable destination. Accommodation.
LILLHAMMER - HAMAR 7ºF - 7ºF - OSLO 14ºF - 21ºF
Our destination for the day is HAMAR, which is located on the banks of Lake Mjøsa. This diverse town allows you to delve into the region´s history, which dates back to the Midst Ages, attend modern art exhibitions and take a plunge in the middle of town. We will go to the Domkirkeodden (admission included), a former monastic complex with a castle and historic farmhouses surrounding it. We arrive at Norway´s capital, OSLO, for a panoramic tour of the green city, including the City Hall, the famed Frogner Park with Vigeland sculptures, Akershus Castle, and the cosmopolitan Karl-Johan Street. Forests and parks cover more than half of Oslo´s municipal territory, making it a city devoid of crowds. Accommodation.
