We began our trip to the city of RUBIK, where we will visit Spaci Prison (entrance included), a work camp established in 1968 in a copper and pyrite mine, in a remote and mountainous area in the centre of the country. The site did not need a perimeter wall, which gives an idea of ??the hardness and difficulty of its location. Later we continue to KRUJE, a medieval town on the side of a mountain from where you can admire the beautiful horizon. Visit of the Fortress of the city, inside which the Ethnographic Museum is located (entrance included). We will get lost in the Kruje Bazaar, with its cobblestone streets and wooden shops where we will find many typical souvenirs, such as filigree, handcrafts in wood or alabaster, wool rugs, etc... KRUJA 59ºF - 59ºF - BERAT 66ºF - 66ºF
Today we are going to visit, with our guide, a city declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, BERAT, "The City of a Thousand Windows", which seem to watch us as we walk through its streets. We will visit its historic centre in the lower part, on the banks of the River Osum, the districts of Mangalem and Gorica, perfectly preserved examples of Ottoman and Byzantine architecture. We will also visit its huge citadel, which is still inhabited today, with numerous Orthodox Christian churches and the Onufri Museum (entrance included) with its 16th century icons. Berat is an amazing city that will not leave us indifferent. Accommodation.
BERAT 66ºF - 66ºF - ARDENICE - APOLONIA - GIROKASTRA
Departure to the ARDENICA MONASTERY (entrance included), built in the 13th century on the ruins of an ancient pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis. We will then make a stop at APOLLONIA, an ancient Greek and Roman colony, where the young Roman Emperor Octavian Augustus was trained. We will visit (entrance included) the most important remains of the city, such as the Agonotetas Monument, the Odeon, the Portico and the Archaeological Museum, inside a Medieval Monastery from the 14th century. Later we will arrive at GJIROKASTRA, an ancient city whose archaeological remains date back to the 1st century. During the Byzantine Empire it became an important commercial centre known as Argiropolis, which in Greek means "city of silver" or Argyrokastron which means "Silver Castle. " We will visit the Citadel, the Museum of Arms and the Ethnographic Museum. (Entrances included)
GIROKASTRA - BLUE EYE - SARANDA 70ºF - 72ºF
We continue discovering Albania and arrive at a magical place, the Blue Eye, a freshwater fountain formed by a small lake with beautiful shades of green and blue. After this visit we will meet SARANDA where we will include a very interesting visit to Kantina Isak. Here you can enjoy the experience of getting to know a local farm, its inhabitants, picking some vegetables or fruits from the land or being able to cook local bread or cakes and taste the wine that is produced. Lunch included at Kantina. Afterwards, we will have a coffee at Lekursi Castle (entrance included), which is located at a strategic point of the hill from which you can see the whole city, as well as the Ksamil Islands. A few kilometres away, very close to the Greek border and opposite the Island of Corfu, is Brutinto, the Pompeii of Albania. This archaeological site, which was one of the main Hellenic commercial centres, elevated to the city by Julius Caesar and later converted into the Episcopal Headquarters, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Time to discover this impressive enclave. Entrance included. Return to Saranda and accommodation.
SARANDA 70ºF - 72ºF - PORTO PALERMO - VLORA 70ºF - 70ºF - DURRES 64ºF - 64ºF
Today we will go to PORT PALERMO, where we will visit an Ottoman Fortress built by the famous tyrant Ali Pasha, who ruled these lands in the 19th century. Continued to VLORA, in southwest Albania, where the Adriatic and Ionian seas meet. Let´s discover the city and all its history with our guide. The first monuments of antiquity date from the 6th century BC, but the city reached its peak on November 28, 1912, when after 5 centuries of Ottoman rule, Albania proclaimed its independence with Vlora as its first capital. In the late afternoon we will arrive in DURRES, a port city on the Adriatic, which was an important commercial centre on the Via Egnatia trade route between Rome and Byzantium. Accommodation.

We start the day with a visit to DURRES, visiting the ancient medieval walls and the Roman Amphitheatre. (entrance included). And to finish our journey, we arrived in the capital, perhaps the most unknown in Europe, TIRANA. First we will take a panoramic tour of the capital starting at Skanderbeg Square, the Pyramid of Tirana, the Grand Boulevard. Then, we will visit Tirana Castle, the National History Museum and the Et´hem Beu Mosque (entrance included). We will also visit the Clock Tower and the bourgeois district of Blloku where the communist elite lived for over 40 years. Then we will go to the "Bektashi World Center" (entrance included) a shrine of the Sufi Bektashi order that moves away from traditional Islam and mixes elements of Judaism and Christianity. There we will have the opportunity to meet or talk and debate about the coexistence of religions in Albania. In the afternoon, continuation of the visit to the underground anti-atomic bunker (entrance included) of the dictator Hoxha. Inside, we will make a photographic and educational guide and many examples of the dictatorship that the country was subjected to for almost 50 years. The bunker is inside a military base, you need a special permit to enter and is 6 floors below ground. The visit is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the reality of the country.
