Welcome to your Europamundo Trip Style Tour!
We leave PARIS around 8.00 in the morning. We travel to Normandy. We make a stop in GIVERNY, a small town famous for being the home of the impressionist painter Claude Monet. We include Monet´s house and gardens entrance, where the artist spent much of his life and created some of his most famous works, such as the water lily paintings. In the gardens we will see a water lily pond, a Japanese bridge and a variety of flowers.
After that we visit ROUEN, capital of Normandy with its impressive Gothic cathedral, its well-preserved historic center with half-timbered houses and its lively atmosphere. We continue to HONFLEUR, a beautiful Norman port city known for its picturesque old port surrounded by colourful houses and its Gothic-style Sainte-Catherine church, built entirely in wood. Its restaurants are known for the fresh seafood of the region. Time for a stroll and to lunch.
In the afternoon we travel to CAEN, known for its rich history, its castle built by William the Conqueror in the eleventh century and its Abbey of Men, a Gothic church also built in the eleventh century. It is a vibrant city with a lively student life and a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. With our guide we walk through the city center.
CAEN 48ºF - 48ºF - MONT SAINT MICHEL - FOUGÈRES 48ºF - 48ºF - CHARTRES 48ºF - 50ºF - PARIS 48ºF - 52ºF
We travel early to the MONT SAINT MICHEL, on a rocky island (surrounded by sea according to high tide hours, accessible by road) known for its impressive medieval abbey at the top of the island. This town is one of the most visited tourist spots in France due to its rich history and natural beauty, with narrow cobbled streets, churches and monasteries and panoramic views of the ocean. We will visit the abbey (entrance included with audio-guide) an impressive example of medieval architecture that offers us a fascinating insight into what monastic life was like in the eleventh century. We will leave Mont Saint Michel and head to FOUGERES, a small town in Brittany at the foot of the largest fortress in Europe. Time for a stroll through its medieval cobbled streets and to have lunch.
We continue to CHARTRES, famous for its impressive Gothic cathedral, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. Its stained glass windows and Gothic sculptures are a stand out, which have remained largely intact since the thirteenth century (we enter its interior without including a visit).
Afterwards we return to PARIS, arrival around 20.30
